Raincrowd, spelled correctly as
rAiNCrOwd, is a three-piece musical rock band originally from the Philippines. Formed on August of 1997 by singer-songwriter and bassist
Chot Ulep (Ramoncito Dayawon Ulep), the original members included Nico Capistrano (Joseph Nicolas Musni Capistrano) on lead guitars, Tonyo Valbuena (Anthony Berck Viray Valbuena) on drums, and Dave Majam on rhythm guitars who left the band in 1998. |

The band was managed by Kim and Francis Marcelo on its early years and later separated and went on to do bookings on their own with the help of other freelance managers. rAiNCrOwd performed as opening act for many major asian bands which included The Eraserheads and Truefaith, both of which won MTV Asian Viewers' Choice awards. |

In 1999, Chot signed up with the then
merger of Octo-Arts EMI and Virgin Philippines as a songwriter for a female artist called Nini with the help of
ex-Truefaith keyboardist and then Virgin label manager, Francis
"Kiko" Guevarra. The ten-song album reached a couple of local charts but was not strong enough to be supported by the few followers. The artist,
Nini, eventually broke off with the label and soon the album was shelved by Virgin.
At this point, Chot already left the country and settled in the
United States in Los Angeles, California. |

Back home, Nico and
Tonyo played a couple of gigs with Ninni before she gave up her
ties with the record company. After which, the two parted ways.
Nico started playing with a band called Shamrock and Tonyo started
a semi-acoustic band with his wife, Myla, called The Johnnies. |

rAiNCrOwd's links to many Filipino artists, producers and promoters put them in a spot where questions remained unanswered and forgotten for the time being. |
